Dr Cassandra Schefe is a soil scientist with over 20 years’ experience in identifying and addressing soil constraints in agriculture. She has led the Cool Soil Initiative since 2018, working with corporate partners to develop a framework for scope 3 emission reporting and supporting farmers to improve soil health. With expertise and experience across the R, D and E spectrum from synchrotron research to soil pits, Cassie works with academia, industry and government to support farmers in sustainable food production. Cassie has authored 23 scientific journal papers and numerous conference proceedings, holds an Adjunct position with Charles Sturt University, and is accredited as both a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) by Soil Science Australia, and a FertCare accredited advisor.
