DrMartin Cole is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wine Australia, a statutory body under the Australian Government which supports the development of theAustralian wine industry. Key responsibilities include investing in Research and Innovation, Marketing and Regulation to enhance the competitiveness, quality, demand for and reputation of Australian wine.

Since joining Wine Australia four years ago, Martin has driven a customer-centric change management agenda in response to the challenging operating conditions and consumer demands in the wine sector. This has included the development of a national One Grape & Wine Sector Plan, a new market diversification strategy based on consumer insights, a refresh of the national Australian WineBrand and transformative changes to research management to help drive investment and innovation for the sector.

With a background in microbiology and food safety, Martin has accumulated a wealth of international senior leadership and research management experience from more than 25 years across industry, government and academia in Europe, North America and Australia. In addition to his day jobs, he has been an expert advisor to international bodies and now provides current scientific oversight to start ups in the fields of food technology and innovation.

Martinis also the current chair of the Council of Rural Research & DevelopmentCorporations (CRRDCs) Executive Committee.
